Tools and resources: APHA Flu Near You Challenge
Signing up users to take surveys via Flu Near You means being creative. Easy things you can do include using social media, such as Facebook and Twitter, to recruit users, or emailing your friends and family. Put up a sign on your office bulletin board, or add a link to your electronic email signature. With a little bit of brainstorming, you can come up with a whole list of ways to recruit users and help track the flu! We've created a few tools to help you in your outreach. Now's your turn!

APHA FLU CHALLENGE TOOLS

• FACEBOOK GRAPHIC
Use this graphic on your Facebook page! Add some text and a link and start signing up Flu Near You users today.

Directions:
1) Download the graphic above to your computer. (PC users: Right-click and Save As. Mac users: Control+click and Save Image As or drag the image to your desktop)
2) Log into your Facebook account.
3) Under "Update Status" add some text about the APHA Flu Near You Challenge. (See sample text below)
4) Paste your unique link in your message. (This is the link you received when you registered.)
5) Click on "Add Photo." Locate and select the graphic you downloaded to your computer called "ChallengeFacebookArt.gif."
6) Hit Post.
7) The image will show up on your wall and point to your photo. Your Facebook followers will see it in their news feeds.

Sample text for your post: (Copy this or write your own!) I'm helping track the flu through APHA's Flu Near You Challenge and need your help! Sign up for Flu Near You using the link below. You'll be asked to report your flu symptoms (or lack of them) each week. The information will be used to map flu cases in your community. Thanks for taking part and for supporting public health.
