What to do: Before an earthquake
Make an emergency plan
Set up a meeting place for your family
Make an emergency stockpile and first-aid kit

What to do: During an earthquake
Protect yourself immediately. If you’re inside:
Drop to the ground
Cover by getting under a sturdy desk or table
Hold on to it until the shaking stops

If you’re outside: find a clear area and drop to the ground. Stay there until the shaking stops, then move indoors when it’s safe.

If you’re in a car: Pull over to a clear location right away. Don’t drive until the shaking stops. Keep your seat belt on!

What to do after an earthquake
When you feel an aftershock: drop, cover and hold on!
Make sure buildings are safe before you enter them

Listen for news and updates on the situation
