Comments sought for ASTHO guide on pandemic flu planning for health departments
The Association of State and Territorial Health Officials is developing a planning guide to protect at-risk populations in the case of a pandemic flu outbreak.
ASTHO’s draft of the guide, At-Risk Populations and Pandemic Influenza: Planning Guidance for State, Territorial, Tribal, and Local Health Departments, is now available for comment and input.
ASTHO has worked reviewing publications and plans, assembling knowledgeable work groups, and organizing public/stakeholder meetings, which will help generate ideas during the draft of this pandemic flu guide. The importance of this project is the result that will come from this published report, which is a key guidance document that will help public health officials in the planning efforts for pandemic influenza.
ASTHO is being assisted by the Center for Infectious Disease Research & Policy at the University of Minnesota, the National Association of County and City Health Officials and The Keystone Center.
The comment period is open until May 15, 2008, and the preferred method for comments is e-mail. More details on the At-Risk Populations Project are on the ASTHO Web site.
